Due to Covid-19 limited seating capacity policies, we ask that you please continue signing-up for weekend Masses Click here to sign up for Masses December 5th & 6th. We still need people willing to sanitize after every Mass! It takes only 10 minutes of your time. For the latest Diocesan requirements for attending Mass at Holy Spirit Church click here.

While we are blessed to be able at this time to hold Masses, our diocese has requested that we cancel all religious education and youth ministry classes and gatherings, and refrain from having any parish-sponsored meetings to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19. It is with regret that we therefore announce all in-person group meetings on our campus are suspended until further notice.

I also remind you that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been removed. If you are sick or compromised in any way or you live with anyone who is compromised, you should not attend and are encouraged instead to watch the livestream of the Saturday 4:30pm Mass on our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/hsccbg OR our website at https://holyspiritcatholic.org/livestreamed-masses. No account or login is required at either website in order to watch. In addition, we livestream the Rosary at 3pm weekdays on our Facebook page, and encourage you to pray with us. I also encourage you to download and read the bulletin weekly. It can be found here on our website...

Know that Fathers Shijo, Stephen and I pray for you daily, and we ask simply that you remember us in your prayer. I remain,

A Servant in the Lord,

Fr. John M. Thomas, Pastor

Announcements & Events

It’s been a long and stressful year for most of us. Which means this Advent could be an especially powerful one as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. Join men from around the diocese for #Dadvent2020, Sundays during Advent at 8 PM from November 29, 2020 – December 20, 2020. Dadvent is a virtual gathering of husbands and fathers from across the Diocese who will gather online through Zoom video conferencing each Sunday night of Advent to reflect on the Sunday readings and share in a time of fellowship together. This virtual event is free, but registration is required to receive your log-in information. The overall goal is to strengthen our homes, families, and marriages by focusing on St. Joseph. For more information, or to register, please visit this website.

Join Gasper River staff for a virtual Christmas Camp. Over several days, we will dive into our theme of Christ is Alive! We will have talks, small group discussions, and some virtual games! Stay tuned for dates and times.

Join other young adults (18-39 years old) around the diocese for a free, virtual Theology on Tap “Home Brew.” Preparing for a Miracle with Bonnie Engstrom will take place at 7 PM on Monday, December 14th Bonnie is a writer, baker, speaker, and homemaker. She the author of 61 Minutes to a Miracle: Fulton Sheen and a True Story of the Impossible. In the book she shares the story of her son James’ stillbirth and how, through the intercession of Venerable Fulton Sheen and for the glory of God, he came back to life after being without a pulse for 61 minutes. Additionally, Bonnie is a devotion writer for Blessed Is She. Register here. This event is sponsored by the Young Adult Ministry for the diocese. You can follow them on Facebook.

As we continue to wait for a vaccine, and the ability to gather together again as a parish, a new world of online resources and retreats has emerged to motivate the faithful! In particular, our sisters at Mount St. Joseph in Owensboro continue to offer many virtual retreats for inspiration. You can find a wide assortment of Online & Virtual Opportunities (some with a fee, some for free) here. We will continue to update this page as deadlines pass and new opportunities arise.
