I pray you are having a blessed week!

We have recently been informed by our Diocese, that we are no longer required to wipe down our pews after each Mass - "There are now better and more reliable studies that suggest topical transmissions are extremely, extremely rare. Relaxing our topical cleaning recommendations does NOT mean we are taking the threat of transmission less serious.  Studies suggest topical transmissions, even in hospital COVID-19 units, do not pose a serious threat for transmissions. We are still taking the threat of transmissions seriously as both infections and deaths are at an all-time high." - Tom Lilly, Chancellor Diocese of Owensboro. We will continue to wipe down door handles and restrooms after each Mass, though, as these areas are the most likely to contain germs. In addition, given that we are not experiencing overcrowding at Masses, we will discontinue the Mass sign-ups in February, on a trial basis - if we find this change to be counter-productive, we may need to resume the practice again. Thank you for your commitment, with regards to following this protocol, and for your patience, as we slowly continue a return to normalcy.

I am also pleased to inform you that we will begin in-person sacramental preparation classes in February. This includes 1st Sacrament and Confirmation classes. These will be held in the Parish Hall with all participants of separate households seated 6 feet apart, facing the same direction, with masks required. Specific dates and times for these classes will be published in the bulletin, and families participating in these programs will receive additional notifications.

I remind you that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been removed. If you are sick or compromised in any way or you live with anyone who is compromised, you should not attend and are encouraged instead to watch the livestream of the Saturday 4:30pm Mass on our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/hsccbg OR our website at https://holyspiritcatholic.org/livestreamed-masses. No account or login is required at either website in order to watch. In addition, we livestream the Rosary at 3pm weekdays on our Facebook page, and encourage you to pray with us. We also encourage you to download and read the bulletin weekly. It can be found here on our website...

Blessings,

Fr. Shijo Vadakumkara

This is a free event and just requires registration using the link here. For the first time in the 2,000-year history of Christianity, the Catholic Church is celebrating a Year of St. Joseph! It began on December 8, 2020 and ends on December 8, 2021. In this talk, Fr.
