Due to Covid-19 limited seating capacity policies, we ask that you please continue signing-up for weekend Masses (we no longer require sign ups for daily Masses) Click here to sign up for Masses October 3rd & 4th. We continue to need people willing to sanitize after every Mass! It takes only about 15 minutes of your time. For the latest Diocesan requirements for attending Mass at Holy Spirit Church click here.

I once again write to you this week, filled with gratitude. Gratitude for your faith, your participation in the life and mission of Jesus Christ in and outside of our parish, and your perseverance. I encourage us all to cling to God... to love God with all our hearts and minds and bodies, and love our neighbors as ourselves. In charity for one another, we continue the practice of signing up for all weekend Masses, allowing one another to approximate the crowd size. Each person can then determine which Mass he or she feels most comfortable attending, if at all, in light of COVID-19.

As we continue to monitor the news and follow all necessary directives, I have decided it is time to reopen our church for daily, individual prayer! The Angela Merici doors (#6) will remain unlocked from 7am until 4pm Monday through Friday. Individuals who wish to visit Holy Spirit for prayer and/or quiet reflection are encouraged to come between these hours to do so. Please use Door #6 for entering and leaving the building, and continue to follow the COVID rules we have set in place - masks MUST be worn at all times, and allow 6ft of social distancing between others. Keep in mind that our Chapel remains closed. We have also removed daily Mass, sign-up requirements as well as sanitizing, sign-up requirements - our daily Mass attendance numbers have been very manageable, and thanks to the endless generosity of our parishioners, we continue to have plenty of volunteers sanitizing the church after the Masses. The need for sanitizing after every Mass remains in place, though, so keep up the great work!

I remind you that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been removed. If you are sick or compromised in any way or you live with anyone who is compromised, you should not attend and are encouraged instead to watch the livestream of the Saturday 4:30pm Mass on our Facebook page at OR our website at No account or login is required at either website in order to watch. In addition, we livestream the Rosary at 3pm weekdays on our Facebook page, and encourage you to pray with us. I also encourage you to download and read the bulletin weekly. It can be found on our website and at

Know that Fathers Shijo, Stephen and I pray for you daily, and we ask simply that you remember us in your prayer. I remain,

A Servant in the Lord,

Fr. John M. Thomas, Pastor

Livestreaming: There is a definite need to train additional, dependable individuals for the continuation of this important media ministry! It is currently the best way we have to reach those who are unable to attend weekly Masses, due to health concerns or restrictions. Anyone interested in being a part of this ministry is encouraged to contact Bill Rankin at 270-842-7777 (ext. 107). We will begin holding Saturday training sessions, before the 4:30 Mass in the coming weeks - stay tuned for dates! We also wish to extend a very special "Thank You!" to both Alan Simpson and Dylan Baker for their tireless efforts getting this ministry off the ground, and for the many hours they have both devoted in order to keep it running smoothly!

81 Days of Prayer: Fr. Bruce Fogle of our diocese has put together an 81 day prayer booklet to be used August 15 – November 3, praying for the healing of our nation and the holiness for its people. You can access, download and print his prayer booklet by clicking here.

Fr. Shonis will be presenting a five-part series on "Hope in a Time of Pandemic: The Book of Revelation", beginning Saturday, September 19th, and ending Saturday, October 17th.
