Christ in the City
As a parish family we wish to offer our prayers and support to parishioner Alex Miller, a Christ in the City missionary. Christ in the City is a group of young adult Catholic missionaries who serve the homeless in Denver, Colorado. In 2020 their 33 person missionary staff spent 25,000+ hours in street ministry. In that same year Christ in the City served over 16,000+ meals and 5,250 mobile meals were served during COVID-19 when the parks were closed.
Alex wrote to us recently to give us this update:
"Over the past few months, I have had the chance to grow in friendships with both fellow missionaries and homeless friends. Since the beginning of the year, we have hosted 18 Lunch in the Parks for our homeless friends. My street team and I have invited 6 of our friends into a deeper friendship.
Throughout the past few months, I’ve learned to live in a community better and develop a deeper understanding of faith. All missionaries from Denver and Philadelphia gathered in January for summit week. During summit week, we started the weekend with a silent retreat, then activities with training sessions, and ended the week with a community talent show. Last semester, all 1st year missionaries took a class on Salvation History through St. John Vianney Seminary. This spring semester, we are taking Catholic Social Teaching through the Augustine Institute."
Alex is working as a Christ in the City missionary for one year. Please pray for Alex, and all missionaries! To learn more about Alex’s journey and help support his mission visit his webpage.

Continue to extend a welcoming invitation to those who are missing from Mass - our efforts make a difference in God’s perfect timing. All are welcome here!
Coffee & Donuts will be served in the parish hall Sunday, February 12th, after the 9:00 am Mass, in conjunction with our Friendship Weekend. All are welcome! If you are willing to help setup, serve or clean up, please sign up online here! Many hands make light work!
Many Liturgical Ministers are needed for Mass to be celebrated well. Together with the Priest, they help the Assembly pray as One Body in Christ: Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Ushers, Greeters, Sacristans. ‘Liturgy’ is defined as ‘the work of the people’, a call to serve the people of God. As you reflect on the gifts God has given you, prayerfully consider where the Holy Spirit is nudging you to serve at Mass. Let’s get to work serving one another with grace. We will host a Liturgical Ministry Training Day, Saturday, February 18, 2023. The schedule of trainings is as follows: Lectors and Sacristans at 9:00am, Eucharistic Ministers and Hospitality Ushers/Greeters at 10:30am , and Altar Servers at 12:00 noon. All current and prospective liturgical ministers are invited to attend!
Save the date - March 18, 2023! All current and former Voices of Holy Spirit Choir, International Choir Kidz Jam singers and all musicians of Holy Spirit are encouraged to be part of the Francesca LaRosa Experience: A day-long retreat from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm, followed by the 4:30 pm Vigil Mass & evening Lenten Reflection Concert, open to all. You are invited and encouraged to spend the day with super gifted and talented, young adult singer/Catholic songwriter, Francesca LaRosa, where your spirit and soul will be moved by her stories, teachings and songs. The retreat will be a relaxed and informative agenda of listening, sharing similar experiences and ways to grow as Liturgical musicians and singers. Meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the day! Make plans now to set aside this day for YOU and others who serve the church as ministers of music! To learn more and receive a tentative agenda please contact Bill Rankin, Director of Music and Liturgy, in the parish office.
