In 2016, Holy Spirit Catholic Church launched the current phase of our Capital Campaign, “Forward by Faith”. This name reminds us that even though we can’t always see what lies ahead, God will move us forward to new heights if we put our trust in Him.
Our founding members began our journey. Could they have envisioned where the Spirit has led? We have accomplished so much in the last 50 years, and being debt-free is now within our grasp!
How can you help?
▪ Thank God for His guidance, His love, and blessings!
▪ Pray. Recognize what you have been given. Ask God to help you understand how to offer your gifts in service to the Holy Spirit community.
▪ Take action. Determine what your contribution will be.
▪ Continue to pray for the success of the capital campaign and for the good of our parish.
▪ Be ready to receive the blessings that only He can give.
In the 10 years we have been on our new campus at 4754 Smallhouse Road, we have grown at a rate we never expected. We have also seen a growth in the request for use of our space, both from internal ministries and community groups such as AA, Al-Anon, Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus and the Red Cross. Our parish community has become a resource for the people of Bowling Green and Warren County. The previous campaigns have brought us this far, and now it is time for us to move forward in faith.
Newly negotiated terms on our mortgage make retiring the debt within the next 10 years a reality. We are a family. Families work together to reach goals, solve problems, and support one another. That is why tackling this debt together is important. No matter how large or small the gift, it matters!
“Intense love does not measure, it just gives.” – Blessed Mother Theresa
Over 50 years ago on August 4, 1967, then Bishop Henry Soenneker heard the need of a growing Catholic community in Bowling Green, Ky, and decreed the formation of a new parish. He sent Father Henry Willett to be the first shepherd of what would become Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Though the parish was founded in 1967, it would be three more years before the first church building was constructed. That first church building was blessed and dedicated on December 6, 1970.
It took years of dedication, faith, vision, love, and sacrifice for this blooming parish by our founding members. It was they, all those years ago, who first gave of their time, talent, and treasure to create a proper worship space for themselves and for generations to come.
The drive and desire to continue to grow and serve the parish and community is at the heart of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. By 2005 the need for more space for a growing and thriving parish pushed parishioners once again to move forward by faith; an example set by our founders nearly five decades earlier. In 2008, ground was broken on the new Holy Spirit campus and in December of 2010, our beautiful, new church was dedicated by Bishop William Medley.
