“Consecration to St. Joseph in the Year of St. Joseph” online Feb 24 @ 2:00 pm The Diocese of Owensboro is pleased to bring you Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, via a Zoom meeting on February 24, 2021 at 2 PM. This is a free event and just requires registration using the link here. For the first time in the 2,000-year history of Christianity, the Catholic Church is celebrating a Year of St. Joseph! It began on December 8, 2020 and ends on December 8, 2021. In this talk, Fr. Calloway will unpack what this means and how we can take advantage of this special year and consecrate ourselves to St. Joseph. There is a strong movement of renewed devotion to St. Joseph taking place in the Church today and Fr. Calloway will inspire you to want to get to know and love St. Joseph, your spiritual father, in a deeper and more profound way.
Save the Date: Spring Women’s Retreat May 22 “Renewing Our Hearts: Hope and Healing in Julian of Norwich” The anonymous 14th-century English mystic known as Julian of Norwich chose a life of voluntary “lockdown.” She lived permanently in an enclosed cell attached to her local church during a time of medieval plague that in some ways resembles the current Covid-19 pandemic. As she was battling a life-threatening illness, she experienced visions she later committed to writing. Her prayerful insights about their meaning offer contemporary seekers reason for hope even in our troubled times. During this May 22 Saturday of prayer and reflection, retreatants will be invited to explore similarities between their own lives and that of Julian’s, recognizing that both mirror the life and death of Jesus Christ in important ways. In Jesus’ Resurrection we find healing and hope that all indeed “shall be well.” This event will take place at the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center, Maple Mount (12 miles west of Owensboro, Ky., on Hwy. 56). The program facilitator will be Sister Cheryl Clemons, OSU. Sister Cheryl has been offering retreats, parish missions, and RCIA programs for over 25 years.
