Beginning this September 2023, as a part of the Year of Eucharistic Revival, Holy Spirit parish is encourging all parishioners, their friends, families and faith groups to participant in a 6-session small faith group study called The Eucharist in Scripture by Dr. Scott Hahn, distributed through St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology.
In The Eucharist in Scripture, discover God’s plan as it is expressed through the Bible and the Mass. This 6-lesson video and discussion study, presented by Dr. Scott Hahn, will unlock the meaning of covenant, sacrifice, and sacrament as understood in the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation.How it Works
The study consists of 6 sessions that include a video followed by discussion questions listed within the Leader Guide. The videos contain the bulk of the content, and can be viewed by themselves for a rich catechetical experience, but they were designed to be accompanied by review questions and discussion questions. Additional reading suggestions listed in the Leader Guide come from Sacred Scripture and three of Dr. Scott Hahn’s books: The Fourth Cup, The Lamb’s Supper, and Consuming the Word. The short, supplemental readings may be distributed to each group member prior to or just after a session. They are also available in the optional participant workbook.
If you already belong to a small faith group, encourage your group to do the study! If you don't yet belong to a small faith group, you may form your own with friends, family members or neighbors. Groups are encouraged to meet in homes. Or, if your group would like to meet in a classroom at the church, simply call the parish office to schedule a room at your prefered dates/times.
Note that fees do apply, and should be split amongst the group members. We recommend groups form with 8-12 people so the price equates to around $8-$12 per person. Online streaming access to the videos plus the Leader Guide costs $74.95 plus tax & shipping per group. If you do not have access to online streaming, your group may instead purchase the DVD set & Leader Guide at $88.95 plus tax & shipping. Each participant, if desired, may also purchase the optional participant workbook for $24.95 plus tax and shipping. All materials are to be ordered by each group leader directly from the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology.
